Dr. Melanie Ortiz Alvarez de la Campa is a Puerto Rican scientist, writer and artist. They graduated with Ph.D. in Pathobiology from Brown University in 2026. They have 10 years of experience in scientific communications, including journalism, multimedia content creation, AMA-style medical writing, and more.

In their free time, Mel is the co-founder of Ciencia Pa' Todes, a Spanish-language science communication initiative based in the Caribbean. Their dream is to use their passion for writing and drawing in order to create a long lasting impact on the lives of others and revolutionize the way we contextualize science.
